Carl Schott Obituary

Carl M. Schott, 78, of Elizabethtown and formerly of St. Albans, West Virginia, passed away on November 11, 2023. He was born January 27, 1945, to the late Carl W. and Nelma (Jarrell) Schott.

After graduating in 1963 from St. Albans high school in West Virginia Carl joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in England for four years where he served as a Military Policeman. One of his duties was to guard bombs loaded on trains heading to Vietnam. One of his perks from that assignment was being able to visit Spain, Norway, Holland, France and Scotland. He enjoyed his long career as a Steel Designer Draftsman. Along the way he formed many long-lasting friendships. During his career he worked with Union Carbide, WV leaving in 1987; Met-Con, Inc., FL, leaving in 2010 and DTL’s, Inc, NM retiring from there in 2015 moving back to his beloved West Virginia with his wife, Betty. There were numerous projects he helped design, listed here are just a few.. Disney World’s Tree of Life, Tower of Terror, Peter Pan ride and others; Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach, FL; several attractions in Universal Studios; launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center. In 2016 he moved to PA with his wife to be closer to his sister and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty Schott; daughter: Carla Barnett (Jeff); grandchildren: Chad Barnett (Tory); great grandchildren: Hunter and Luke; sister: Laura Davis; nieces and nephews: Roberta Green (Sean), Carl Davis (Michelle), Laura Lea Kreiser (Gary); 16 great nieces and nephews as well as family in Charleston SC. He is preceded in death by his grandson Troy Barnett and brother-in-law, Robert Davis.

In lieu of flowers donations in Carl’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 3228th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

Graveside services will be held Friday December 8, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
