Bonita Mae (Markus) Berstler, 69, of Hershey, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 17, 2016.  Born April 9, 1947 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Stephen J. and Violet (Davis) Markus.

People come in an out of ones life from the time you are born till the day you pass on. But only one person seems to be there always. We call that person mom. On Saturday, December 17 at 8:13pm our mother Bonita Mae Berstler was transcended to a better place. She will be greatly missed, as she was a person with much kindness, love, and understanding, with a full heart willing to be a counselor or if needed, just lend an ear.  She was always looking out for others and always trying to be a good friend. Our mother also had one hell of a life. Working at anything from umpiring to bartending. Enjoying a lifetime of hobbies as well-from bingo, pool, bowling, to the good old casino (The casino being one of her favorites). Some may remember the singing, dancing, care free Bonita as well her famous one liner that we all can relate to "Get Out!”

She will be lovingly missed by her children: Kim M. Berstler, of Middletown; BobbiJo Berstler, of Elizabethtown; Brenda L. Berstler, of Middletown and Dennis K. Berstler, of Steelton.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and three siblings: Rosemary Markus Rowe, and husband Craig, of Elizabethtown; Maryann Markus Cerwonka and husband, Richard of Mount Laurel, NJ and Steven J. Markus and wife, Michelle, of Middletown as well as Bonita’s extended family and caring friends.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Fager, Sr.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fager-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 208 North Union Street, Middletown, PA  17057, 717-944-7413

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bonita’s honor to a charity of one’s choice.
