Bernard “Bear” Gorberg, 71, formerly of Middletown, PA passed away on Thursday, September 13th 2018 at South Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center and is now in a better place due to a never-ending battle for his health. Born on August 25th, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of late Seymour Gorberg and the late Selma (Perlmutter) Cooper, and was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Gorberg (USMC). Thinking of others before himself. In 1967 he joined the U.S. Army (11th Armored Cavalry) by volunteering to serve multiple tours in Vietnam where he courageously did his part with his brother-in-arms, thus awarded multiple medals to include the Purple Heart. He was a brilliant man, who had a strong passion for computers and tinkering with them. A true visionary who loved to be on the cutting edge of technology. A man ahead of his time and will be forever remembered by friends and family!
Bernard is survived by three sons: Howard M. Gorberg, of Owings, MD, David J. Gorberg, husband of Angela, of Leominster, MA. and Scott C. Gorberg, husband of Tasha, of Harrisburg, PA. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Nicole, Isaac, Ava, Malaki, Skyler and Maliya, as well as his brother, Jay Gorberg, husband of Ellen, of Florida.
A committal service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, September 21st, 2018 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with full military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fager-Finkerbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 208 North Union Street, Middletown, PA 17057.
