Arthur Elwood Alleman, 76, of Middletown, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Frey Village Retirement Center. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Elwood C. and Mareda C. (Bausman) Alleman. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of nearly 52 years, Anita L. (Spannuth) Alleman.

Art graduated from the Thompson Institute and went on to spend this whole career working for the former Traffic Service Bureau as a freight auditor. He served his country in the P.A. Air National Guard as a Personal Equipment Specialist. Art lived his whole life in Middletown, earning the name of “Mr. Middletown” or “The Mayor” from his family. He was very civic minded and was active in many local clubs and organizations including the American Legion. He volunteered with numerous Middletown youth sports organizations including the Main Street Gym Rescue Project, the MABA, the MASD youth sports programs, as well as coaching boys and girls baseball teams. He was an avid sports fan, especially for Philadelphia teams, Penn State, Harrisburg Senators, and the Hershey Bears. Art was the #1 fan of Legion Baseball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Angela Deiling (Patrick) of NJ, Annette Stewart of Middletown, and Kevin Alleman (Patricia) of New Cumberland; three grandchildren: Jordyn, Ian, and Lorelai; and brother-in-law- Herbert Spannuth, Jr. (Beverly) of VA.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 1, 2017 at New Beginnings Church, 630 S. Union St., Middletown, PA 17057 with Pastor Britt Strohecker officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11AM prior to the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fager-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 208 N. Union St., Middletown. 717-944-7413
